The business owner conducts business in an environment that brings her peace and fuels her passion: on a laptop outdoors, with a dog sitting beside her on a patterned couch.

As a mother of three adult children, a wife, an educator, and a holistic healthcare practitioner, I understand the unique challenges families and educators face when nurturing their growth and the health and well-being of their families. I am also the proud owner of Align OT on Long Island, New York, where I’ve spent 35 years working as a passionate advocate for holistic health and well-being.

If you're looking for a compassionate, experienced professional who can empower you, your child, and a community of people to work toward their full potential—while providing personalized support for their unique needs—I'm here to guide you every step. Let’s gain a partnership in the achievement of goals and creating the foundation for long-term growth, success, and well-being. As an occupational therapist, I am educated and trained in the adaptation and modification of activities and environment to meet your needs, regardless of what stage or age you may be at this present time.

My Philosophy

Alignment isn’t about fitting into a mold—it’s about understanding and embracing the whole person in all their unique complexity. As a holistic practitioner with a strength-based, trauma-informed, and neurodiverse approach I believe that every individual’s journey is different, and it’s about finding what works for you. We all have our challenges, and we are working with the knowledge we have to the best of our ability, regardless of your diagnosis. It’s not about the diagnosis but the symptoms and their impact on us. Neurodiverse people often think, feel, and experience the world in ways that don’t always match traditional expectations, which makes you powerful. You don’t need to change who you are; you need the right tools to navigate toward your bigger goals, in your way, and at your own pace.

To help you explore your needs, likes, and desires, we’ll use creative, personalized methods that feel right for you—whether that’s through visual journaling, mind mapping, Brief Action Planning (BAP), storytelling, Neurographica Art, or sensory exploration. You might uncover insights through movement, art, or music—tools that speak to the parts of your mind that logic alone can’t reach. Together, we’ll explore the things that light you up, the activities that make you feel grounded, and the moments that bring you peace and joy.

I believe that self-knowledge is most powerful when presented in a way that makes sense to you—in a way that helps you see your strengths, identify your needs, and make choices that serve your authentic self. It is through a trusted partnership, choices, and exploration that keeps you engaged and motivated toward change and

What is Occupational Therapy?

As an Occupational Therapy practitioner (OTP), I promote health, well-being, and participation. I focus on the things you and the community want, need, and love to do that create meaning. Among those occupations and roles are parenting, engaging in sports, maintaining friendships, taking care of yourself and others, working, student, and leisure activities. Most importantly, I develop a plan of action, adapting and modifying, helping explore your strengths, interests, and challenges, so you can overcome barriers and increase participation in meaningful activities.

My Process

  • Woman using a laptop on a patio with a dog lounging beside her.

    Initial Consultation

This is a complimentary 15 to 30-minute consult via Zoom or phone where we get to know one another.

  • A person writing in a planner with a silver pen, wearing a striped shirt and a ring. A smartphone and a floral vase are in the background.

    Individual Evaluation

In this meeting we will go over your child’s strengths and challenges, take a deeper look into their needs and interests to collect the necessary information to build a customized plan of action.

  • A person writing in a notebook with a blue pen, wearing a gray long-sleeve shirt.

    Custom Plan of Action

Based on the information gathered in the evaluation stage, I craft a plan specific to your child’s needs, ability to perform daily activities and then we set achievable goals together!

  • Hands pointing and typing on a laptop screen and keyboard.

    Progress Report

Lastly I provide you and your child with a progress report. This shows you their attained goals, any goal modification and over all the progress they’ve made.

Reviews

  • Sensory Alignment

“Before my appointment, I didn’t know what to expect. I had taken Yoga and other meditation classes before, but nothing that used sound to heal. At the beginning of the appointment, Heidi explained the process that she would be going through during the session and gave me background information on her methods. As soon as she started with sound therapy, I felt my body and mind relax. My favorite part was going through all the sounds associated with the body. I felt so good afterward that I immediately scheduled another appointment for the next week. This has decreased the time that I have spent procrastinating on assignments and tossing and turning at night, which has enhanced my college experience. Overall, it was an amazing experience and I look forward to continuing my sound journey with Heidi.”

  • Mindfulness in the Classroom

“I better understand how to use mindfulness tools provided to me, as an educator, and my students by Heidi. My students are better equipped with life skills now and in the future. I’ve noticed a really big movement in how each student responds to one another after a mindfulness session. They’re more positive in the way that they bounce back from a stressful and challenging situation and a lot more resilient. They now have their tools, and it’s been amazing to witness their newfound self-awareness. They recognize the physical symptoms that happen inside their bodies, and they know that their brains need those tools and strategies to calm down. These tools have been used during testing sessions to provide them with a sense of centering their energy to be successful.”

  • Virtual Meditation & Sensory Alignment Therapy

“The sound meditation was very comfortable and soothing. It provided much needed release of stress from my day-to-day life. It decreased my head pressure and relieved my sinus issues. I immediately felt my sinuses drain and felt relaxed and calm by the end of the guided meditation and sound journey.”
